Songwriter Steve Altman takes you on a musical tour of Atlantis & Vine, a fabled bar he has conjured up in his mind that is one part America and one part Atlantis.
Though the show is a one man musical set within the walls of the fabled Atlantis & Vine, the full length version would find the owner returning to reclaim it, just as a powerful figure is bent on razing the site to build a hotel, Atlantis and Vine itself represents America… and the similarities between two super civilizations …is immediate. One powerful and prolific self-made civilization rose into greatness, then swirled into the unwatched eye of catastrophic self-destruction… and the other …is edging toward that very same brink.

STEVE ALTMAN is an actor / writer / composer living in Los Angeles. He has studied with Stella Adler, Jeffrey Tambor and Michelle Van Hesson of LaMama Theatre. He moved to Hollywood when Motown came knockin’, writing songs for Jose Feliciano and Smokey Robinson…then for Disney, HBO and NASA, writing songs for four space missions.
